CHATHAM CUP DISTRICT FINAL. MAY BE PLAYED IN PALMERSTON NORTH. Palmerston North may yet see two club teams from other centres in action. The district final of the Chatham Cup, between Hastings United and Petone, which was to have been staged in Wellington to-day, will not "now be played in the Empire City and overtures have been made to the Manawatu Association to arrange the game here to-day week. “Owing to difficulties which have arisen ill connection with the Chatham Cup district final, it has been found necessary to amend the fixture,” stated a letter from the New Zealand Council received by the Manawatu Association yesterday. “Would you be good enough to stage the match in Palmerston North on August 4. It is to be regretted that this re-arrange-meut has had to be made, but the difficulties of the council have been tremendous and this appears, to be the only way to solve the problem.” A brief meeting of the emergency committee of the Manawatu Association was held and a telegram despatched to the council expressing the association’s willingness to arrange for the game for next Saturday as requested.
