ASSISTING THE NEEDY.
TRAVELLERS’ GREAT WORK. £90,000 IN TWELVE YEARS. AUCKLAND, June 12. A sum of £90,000 has been disbursed to charities in the Auckland Province by the Auckland Commercial Travellers’ Association during the last twelve years. This information was given out by Mr W. H. Prentis, president, on Saturday evening at the club’s annual dinner. . “The time has certainly arrived when we should make another effort,” declared Mr Prentis. “It is going to be a severe winter for the. distressed of this city, so our committee has decided on another charitable stunt. We are . going after clothes, etc., for the poor and needy, and already we have bad offers of co-operati-on and help from the Returned Soldiers’ Association and the Rev. Jasper Calder’s City Mission.”
