A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.

MEETING OF GENERAL COMMITTEE. The monthly meeting of the general committee of the Manawatu A. and P. Association was held this morning, Mr J. Linklater, M.P., presiding over an attendance of about 35. A welcome was accorded Mr E. Mabin, a new member of the commitMr Clutha N. Mackenzie, director of the Jubilee Institute for the Blind, Auckland, wrote thanking the association for granting the institute free space at the show. A request was received from the Royal Agricultural Society of New Zealand for a list of men competent to judge in the various classes included in the writer’s show schedules. The society also expressed the hope that all A. and P. Associations would contribute to its funds.—The matter of judges is tn be attended to. ■ Mr 0. Nelson wrote thanking the association for appointing him a district member on the committee. Accounts amounting to £1951 9s 9d were passed for payment. Twenty-eight new members were elected, while five resignations were received. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Hon. D. F. Wilber, of Oneonta, New York, formerly United States Consul m New Zealand, and a good friend of the association, for a donation of 100 dolJars. So that travellers coming by the farmers’ train on Tuesday next might not have to walk the streets at night owing to inability to find accommodation—it being stated that all the hotels are booked up and the train does not arrive till 8 p.m.—Messrs M. A. Conway and H. Y. Lethbridge volunteered to meet the train at Alarton and to come on to Palmerston North in it, fixing up accommodation for those who had not made arrangements. It was decided to make enquiries regarding accommodation to be obtained at nearby country hotels. Members of the general committee will meet the train on arrival and greet the visitors. Mr M. A. Conway briefly reported on the last meeting of the council of the Royal Agricultural Society, saying that tliis body had agreed to reconsider its decision to hold tlio show in January. He was hopeful that the society would hold the fixture in conjunction with the Manawatu Spring Show, as thereby expense amounting to several thousand pounds would he saved. It was decided to admit High School hoys free to both stands on the days that their football teams are playing at the Show. Free passes, it was reported, had been issued to Flock House trainees.
