IN TWO YEARS?
’PHONES TO ENGLAND. WIRELESS DEVELOPMENT. SYDNEY, May 31. Simultaneous publication of newspapers throughout the British Empire. wireless telephonic communication between Australia and Great Britain, and transmission of moving scenes were some of the possibilities in the development of wireless predicted by Mr E. T. I'isk, general manager of Amalgamated Wireless, Lta., in an address to members of the Legacy Club to-day. The future of wireless, he declared, was far greater than people realised. While television, or the transmission of actual moving scenes, had not yet been accomplished, ho believed that tho experiments would ultimately prove successful. The future would see an entirely new development in the methods of communication. Beam wireless now worked by telegraphy. If facsimile methods were fully developed, instead of sending messages by Morse, it would be possible to transmit the sender’s hand-writing. “That may lead to the simultaneous production of newspapers in different parts of the Empire, .and the possibilities of such a development for Empire purposes are very great.” “We are,” said the lecturer, ‘ getting close to that time when we will be able to communicate by telephone with friends in England. That may bo possible in about two years.”
