Received May 8, 12.15 p.m. LONDON, May 7. The Australia is lying at Portsmouth. Nearby aro the Iron Duke, tho Royal Sovereign and the Benbow, all of which are noticeably all of an older type, while Nelson’s Victory, within a stone’s throw, helps to emphasise the brightness, modernity, spick and span, straight-lined appearance of the Australia. . The warship’s company, of which bu per cent are Australians, are busily preparing for the preliminary cruise. •Ml are delighted at the better accommodation for tho ratings, including a recreation room, a punkah louvre and a forced ventilation system throughout; also. a loud speaker for the transmission of orders to distant parts of the Sh Aie use of oil fuel is carried to such length that ©veil- the galleys are oilheated.
