LICENSING BREACHES.

ON PREAIISES AFTER HOURS

Mr J. L. Stoat, S.M., dealt with a number of Licensing Act prosecutions at the Magistrate’s Court this mornThe first person to be charged was W J Wareham, licensee of the Railway Hotel, who, it was alleged, had sold liquor' after hours on April 19, or, alternatively, had opened his premises for the sale of liquor. Defendant pleaded not guilty, whereupon it was stated by Senior-Sergeant O’Grady that the night porter at the hotel had supplied liquor to two men who had gone on the premises at about midnight and were not boarders. If those were the facts, said His Worship, defendant was liable for the actions of his servant. Defendant admitted that they were bo, saying that the porter was a new one.
