MOTORS COLLIDE. (From Our Own Correspondent.) BULLS, Nov. 28. On Saturday night a collision occurred on the Bulls-Turakina Road between a car driven by Mr E. J. Amon, of Raumai Road, Bulls, and a Wanganui-owned car. Both cars were extensively damaged, but the occupants escaped scathless. BOWLING. The holders of the Farrer Buttons retained the trophies against challengers during the week-end, Archer’s rink winning 18 to 17 from Walker’s rink. Both were level when the last head began. Walker was two up until Archer, with his last bowl, rested the ’ pair and laid tho shot. Details are as follows:—Alderwick, Perrett, Ingram, Archer (skip) 18 v. Thompson, Wilson, Schaab, Walker (skip) 17. SNOOKER FINAL. A big crowd was attracted on Saturday evening when Hollis (scratch) defeated Wilson (8) in tho final of the snooker tournament. Both finalists are youths, and an attractive game was witnessed. It was anybody’s game until the colours only remained, when Hollis, by briliant “doubling,” ran out a winner by 102 to 68. Tho winner was presented with a handsome gold watch, and the runner-up received a razor and shaving outfit. FOR THE POOR. In order to raise funds for the relief of distressed families the pupils of St. Francis Convent School will be staging an operatta, “Golden Hair and the Three Bear 3,” in the Town Hall, Bulls. CHURCH PARADE. St. Andrew’s Church was well filled on Sunday morning when Girl Guides, Boy Scouts and Cubs held their quarterly church parade. All boro a smart, military appearance, and created a very favourable impression. PERSONAL. Mrs Cracroft Wilson, of Cashmere Hills, Christchurch, is at present the guest of Sir James and Lady Wilson at “Lethenby.” Mrs J. Danks, of Palmerston North, has been spending a few days in Bulls, and returned home on Monday. Mr and Mrs- G. Hamish Wilson, of “Burleigh,” Bulls, are returning from tho Old Country, and are expected home about December 16. Mr and Mrs A. E. McDonell, two erstwhilo residents of Lower Rangitikei, have been visiting friends in Bulls. Miss Doull, daughter of the late Rev. James Doull, who was in charge of the local Presbyterian Church some years ago, has been tho guest of Miss Dalziell. As tho result of a preliminary examination proficiency certificates have been granted to the following pupils of Bulls School: —Myrtle • Coe, Muriel Jones, Frederick Cutts, Roy Ellery, Peter Ralfe, Leslie Ransom, Hilary Wilson, Samuel Young and Rob McKenzie. The funeral of the late Mrs J. Kemp was largely attended on Thursday afternoon, the cortege including representatives of the school committee, farming and business community, Boy Scouts and Girl Guides. Rev. H. E. Jones, M.A., conducted the services at the church and at Clifton cemetery. Pall bearers were Messrs F. J. and J. J. Mansell, D. Mclntosh, P. Whisker, C. Forlong and W. H. Olson. Many beautiful wreaths were forwarded by friends. The late Mrs Kemp was born in Sventon, Nottingham, and was a daughter of Mr Jonathan Butler. In 1903 she married Mr Kemp, who had just been discharged from the army, after seeing service in India and South Africa. For a time they conducted a grocery and parrying business at Redmill, near Nottingham, and then emigrated to New Zealand, settling in Bulls. The deceased lady was of a retiring disposition, but was very charitable, and for many years was associated with the School Committee, Boy Scouts, etc. She is survived by her husband, three son 3 (Leslie, Robert and Alwyn), and one daughter (Winifred). GENERAL. The patronal festival of St. Andrew’s Church will be held, on Wednesday. A special feature will bo the presence of combined choirs from Wanganui, Marton, Feilding and Palmerston North. On Friday evening members of Bulls branch of the M.U., 1.0.0. F. journeyed to Marton to attend the bi-annual election of officers of the Marton Lodge. Arrangements were made for a combined benefit dance and on Friday, December 9, a team selected from the two lodges will compete in a triangular debate with district lodges. Feilding races will draw a good number of local sportsmen, and interest will be centred upon the running of the locallyowned horse, Euphonium.,
