Mr 0. P. Ronberg, Ferguson Street, has received advice that his son, Mr David Ronberg, has passed his final professional examination in dentistry. A Press Association telegram from Christchurch announces the death at the age of 88 years of Mr Charles Overton, formerly a -well-known runholder and early Canterbury, settler. Mr J. F. Menzies, general manager of the Eastbourne Borough’ Council, was appointed town* clerk at Sumner at last night’s meeting of the Sumner Borough Council. There were 58 applicants. The director of town planning, Mr B. L. Hammond, is visiting Palmerston North to-day. This evening he will confer with the • Borough Council and discuss matters connected with town planning in general. The death of Mr Edmund Fenton Broad, well known in the timber indus- • try, and one-time manager of the Kauri Timber Company, Auckland, is announced by a Press Association message from Sydney. . Mr W. C. Collier has received intimation of his re-appointment as locnl representative of the Royal Life Saving Society in Palmerston North, and also as examiner for the diploma of the society for the Wellington head centre. The death occurred suddenly on the' Nelson Bowling Club’s green yesterday afternoon, during. play, of an elderly bowler, Mr A. U. Jacka. Mr Jacka was well known .in bowling circles throughout New Zealand. Mr E. E. C. Boyes, first assistant at the Nelson Central School, has been accepted by the High Commis- * sioner for exchange with an English teacher and will proceed to Eastbourne in tjnie to take up his new duties at . the beginning of next year. Bonner, who has resigned from the staff of the Motueka School to take up an" appointment as headmaster at Miramar, was the subject of complimentary remarks at a meeting of the Nelson Education Board yesterday. A resolution of appreciation of liis services was carried on the motion of the chairman. Mr Isaac Hymans, who passed away at Wellington on Saturday, aged 66 years/' was a we.ll-known authority on cricket and football in that city in the early days. After his retirement from the Telegraph Department Mr Hymans took up bowls; and soon became secretary of the Wellington Club, and one of . its best “leads.” He was also a member of • the Seatoun Club. After a period of four years as principal of the New Zealand Missionary School at Longburn, Pastor E. E. Cossontine is shortly leaving for Australia, Where lie will take up a similar position with the Australasian Missionary Col-' lege, situated at Coorombong. Under the supervision of Mr Cossentine the Longburn institution has experienced, a term of progress, the Jiuildings having been extensively enlarged and the roll number increasing from 35 students to its present total of approximately 90 during his term there. The retirement will date from January 26, 1928, and the successor' to Mr Cossentine will be Mr E,.Rosendahl, of Perth, West Australia, vwlio' is scheduled to arrive here on January 3 of next year. The farmmanager .of tlie Longburn School, Mr G. F. Bohringer, is also retiring shortly and will take up a similar position at the ' Australasian Missionary College, his departure being set down for December 9. Mr Judge, from Gisborne, will succeed Mr Bohringer 'as farm manager. Last night Mr Cossentine was presented with a travelling rug and Mr Bohringer with a travelling bag from the pupils of the school, Mr D. Watson making the presentation.
