SPRING FAIR.
SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION. After a season extending over three days the Spring Fair, held under the auspices oi All Saints’ Church, concluded on Saturday evening. The attendance of the public in large numbers assured the stall-holders of continued activity and the large variety of goods was briskly disposed of without difficulty, while the various sideshows and the cabaret received a full measure of support. Although no figures have been announced in regard to the takings at the function, it can safely be assumed that they will prove highly satisfactory. The following is the remainder of the results in-connection with the competitions conducted at the fair:— ' ■ Kairanga Stall.—Nightdress, Miss M. Woods (peas in bottle 302); sucking pig (Friday), Mrs Carson ; sucking pig and fowls (Saturday), conrect weight 131bs 9ozs, W. Boon 131bs Bozs, F. Pasley 131bs Bozs, Mrs Facer 13Ibs Bozs., F. Fagan 131bs 10 ozs (tied). Longburn Stall. —Dimner ; " Mrs Fowler; cushion, A. P. Guthrie. Aokautere Stall.—Cake (61bs 3ozs), Mrs Coker; sucking pig (24Jlbs), Mr G. Shaw and Mn Stevens (tie). Linton Stall.—Pipe, Mr Harkness; box of tea, Mrs Hewitson;' sucking pig, Mrs C. Galpin (correct weight 361 b 6ozs); trousseau underwear, Mrs Batchelar; dressing-jacket, Mrs Hewitt. Fancy Stall: Bridge cloth and set, Mrs Keeling; bridge cloth, Mrs O, Barton; man’s dressing gown, Mrs Douglas; pink box and apron, T. Gosling. Men’s Stall: Wallet, Mrs F. Egan; cigarette holder, Mr Priest. Takaro Stall.—Christmas pudding, Mr de Berry; dressed doll, Mrs Ralph; cushion, 0. A. Collis; table centre, Mrs Palenski. Guild Stall: Hair brush, Mrs de Berry; baby boy (EdwardV Mrs Hewitt; baby girl (Joan), Mrs Davey; telephone shade, Mrs McIntyre. Guild (woollen stall): Baby’s outfit, Mr J. Hardwood. Guild (plain stall): Table-cloth, Mr M, J. Lee; tray cloth, A. J. Taylor. Sweet Stall: Lingerie, Miss O. Smith. : The pnimary school tug-d’-war championships resulted in some most interesting finals, Terrace End annexing the senior honours and Central coming out on top in the junior section, while Central B and College Street were the respective runners-up.
