LIBERAL PARTY DIVIDED.

MEETINGS IN HYDE PARK

LONDON, Aug. 3.

“There is a new split in the Liberal Party over the holding of Sunday meetings,” says tho political correspondent of the Standard. More tha-n half the party are reported to have proclaimed themselves Sabbatarians, including the Chief Whip, Mr G. A. Hutchinson, member for Montrose. On the other hand, Sir Herbert Samuel, tho head of the party machino, favours Sunday meetings. Mr Lloyd George is non-committal. Tho Conservatives recently initiated Sunday meetings in Hyde Park as a counterblast to tho Socialists, who for years havo used tho park on Sunday. A section of tho Liberals decided to imitate this, but others refused, with the result that the matter was referred to tho party’s organisation committee.
