GARDEN PARTY.

PLEASING FUNCTION. A pleasant function, and one by which the fund for the purchase of a car . for-the district nurse, Sister Alexander, should be considerably augmented, was held this afternoon at the residence of Mrs Winch, 48 Ihaka' Street. The proceedings took the form of a garden party, and were much enjoyed. Favoured with fair weather conditions, the garden was a scene of much fun and merriment as the various competitions were keenly contested. These included croquet, golf putting, gueseipg competitions ,and other novel attractions, while the dren were well catered for by the inclusion of races and sports, to say nothing of the ever-popular bran tub. The arrangements were in the hands of a capable committee, and the various stall-holders had a busy time disposing of their wares: The afternoon tea and soft drinks stalls were also well patronised, and during the afternoon an excellent musical programme was rendered by the Palmerston North Girls’ Music Club and the various items were much enjoyed by all. The funds of this worthy object should be raised substantially as a result of the ladies’ efforts. The committee acknowledges the receipt of £1 Is from Mrs A.,Coombs towards the car fund.
