WATCHMAN ATTACKED.
by demented ex^soldier. Per Press Association. \ AUCKLAND, April 22. A demented, returned soldier, aged 43, an inmate of the Salvation Army Home at Epsom for the past 13 months, attacked the night watchman there at 6.30 this morning, striking him on the head with an axe. One inmate said that the two came to grips and the demented man would have strangled' the watchman if help had not come. > - The watchman was cut over the eye, but his injuries are not serious.. His assailant was subsequently committed to the Mental Hospital.
