At a meeting of the No. 1 district Highways Council the opinion . was strongly expressed that the present maintenance subsidy was inadequate to maintain the roads in the north at the standard required by the Main Highways Board. Representations are to be made for an increase. It was also resolved to urge the board to push through the Dominion road construction programme in four years instead of ten.
