The funeral of tiro late Mrs Maurice Cohen took placo early this afternoon, tho cortege, which left tho residence in Grey street for the Palmerston North cemetery, being a lengthy one, typifying tlie widespread regret at the deceased lady’s passing, and being evidence of the regard in which she had been held by a large circle, not only in tho Manawatu, but also in other centres of New Zealand. Included in the funeral procession of over two hundred cars were the deceased lady’s family, relatives and intimate friends, and representatives of the various local organisations with which Mr Cohen is concerned. Fifteen of the local Justices of the Peace and representatives of the Borough Council in Messrs A. J. Graham (Deputy Mayor) and Crs McLeavey and Eliott were a,so present, while from outsido there were many prominent Wellington people in attendance, including the Mayor of that city, Mr C. J. Norwood, representatives of the Wellington Harbour Board in Messrs Marchbanks, Chapman and Barnett, and Colonel Mitchell, also Captain Dawson (harbourmaster at Wellington), Mr J. H. Burnett, District Masonic Grand Mastej., E.C., and Mr Peter Lewis, District Masonic Grand Secretary, E.C., both of Wanganui. A profusion of beautiful wreaths adorned the casket and surrounded tho graveside. There the last sad rites were conducted by the Rabbi, Rev. H. Van Staveren, of Wellington, the scene being most impressive.
