CARNARVON NOTES.

[From Our Own Correspondent.] Last Saturday morning the Clydesdale School girls’ hockey team played the Glen Oroua School girls at Carnarvon. After a fast and interesting match, the scores being even at half time, Clydesdale won by four goals to two. For the winners Ruby Florence scored three goals and Rita Lyons one, while for the losers Avis Sexton and Clara George scored one each. The following represented the Clydesdalo School: Ruby Marsbon, Alice Florence, Ethna Hill, Isabel Scott, Alison Duneum, Annie Peterson, Ruby Florence (Captain), Esmo Hill, Isabel Maxwell, Rita Lyons, Maisio Teague. Mr Corry refereed the match. After the game both teams were entertained at morning tea in the hall. Mr Ponpard returned thanks on behalf of the Glen Oroua people while Mr G; R. McKenzie replied for the Clydesdale School. The Carnarvon men’s hockey team were opposed to Ihe Pakeha’team for the first, match of the second round. The -Pakeha’s were a greatly improved team from the combination which played Carnarvon the previous week. At half time, tho scores were ono all, J. Giles scoring for Carnarvon. During the second spell Carnarvon assumed the upper hand and F. Florence netted two more goals for Carnarvon. Mr W. Corry refereed his second match during the day in his usual impartial manner. The draw for this week is Carnarvon v. Wanderers at Feilding. Tho euchre party and dance held in the hall on Tuesday evening in aid of the school and Hockey Club funds wa3 not very largely attended owing to various other attractions. At cards Mrs Shaw and Miss A. Floronce tied for first prize and in the “out” Miss Florence was successful. Mr J. Floronce won the gentlemen’s prize. The consolation prizes wore won by Mrs Thackeray and Mr K. Clare. After supper danoing was carried on to Mr Ni Burling’s music, Miss Smith playing an extra. Tho usual weekly meeting of the Cribbage Club was held on Thursday evening when there was only a small attendance of members. Tho singles competition is proctically finished and most members have started playing doubles. .... -,
