ALLEGED THEFT.

YOUNG MAN ARRESTED. CONCEALED IN BOOKSTALL. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, June 26. Hearing a smashing sound about two o’clock this morning, Mr Barrett, the caretaker of the ferry building, hurried to summon the wharf police. Sergeant Dunford and Constables Collins and Skinner searched tho premises and found a young man concealed in one of tho bookstalls. A jemmy was also found. On being arrested accused gave his name as Eric George Davidson, aged 25. When he appeared in court this morning on a charge of breaking and entering the shop of Auckland Bookstalls, Ltd., with intent to commit a crime, Senior-Detective - Hammond asked for a remand until next Saturday. This was granted, bail being fixed at £IOO.
