ACTINIC RAY OUTFIT.
FIRST IN NEW ZEALAND. The Wellington Hospital Board this week sanctioned the purchase of an actinic ray outfit complete with installation, at a cost of £l6O. The outfit has already been installed, and Wellington Hospital is the first institution in New Zealand at which this special service is available. In reply to a question the medical superintendent, Dr. D. M. Wilson, said that on tho Continent and elsewhere there had been solarium treatment of children in the sun. The lamp was an artificial form of that treatment, and had the effect of building up underfit children. It had been used to stimulate the increase of development and also in the treatment of fractures which were not uniting as quickly as they should be. It stimulated the body powers of development.
