In regard to the disorganisation caused by the strike cf British seamen the report emphasises tho value of having in existence at all times an organisation which can at the shortest notice take action to protect the interests of the producers and of the general community. An extension of the activities of the association is indicated by the fact that arrangements have been made with the Control Board for the association to undertake the whole of the work in connection with the shipping of produce from the port of Auckland and New Plymouth when absolute control is assumed. The necessity for tho adoption of the system of compulsory grading of cream and the stringent culling of dairy herds to improve quality and increase "production is also strongly urged. Reference is made to the resignation, after 16] years’ excellent service, of Mr J. Lockheed, Auckland branch manager, ’ and the appointment to the position of Mr V. E. Master.

The retiring directors nre the Hon. J. B. Gow, Auckland, Mr J. B. Murdoch, Taranaki and Mr J. D. Brown, Wellington. The two first-mentioned were elected unopposed, hilt for tho Wellington seat, in addition to Mr Brown Messrs H. Bond and F. Haul had been nominated. ' The accumulation of capital totalling £29,116 is referred to ate a unique performance. Because of it the association has reduced its annual subscription to a nominal figure and relies for the income necessary to maintain its mission of service to the industry upon trading profits and commissions earned in the purchase of factory supplies.
