An ingenious device, developed by a member of the local Firo Brigade, was shown to a “Standard” reporter to-day. A water-pressure gauge has been adapted in such a manner that the indicator can be set to any pressure. The fireman whose duty it is to register the water pressure each hour simply sets the indicator on the converted gauge on tho fire motor to the pressure showing. In the event of a fire, the last reading is shown on the motor, thus indicating the necessity or otherwise of using the pumps. When the pumps arc not to bo used the engine stops at tho fire instead of at the nearest plug, the saving in time so gained being of great help to the brigade.
