FUNCTION AT RANGIOTU.
MR J. DONALDSON FAREWELLED
Mr J. Donaldson, who for a number of years has been farming in the ltangiotu district, has been compelled to take up his residence, for health reasons, in a more congenial climate—at least for some years. Last year Mr Donaldson underwent several major operations, which, although in themselves successful have to some extent left him with impnired health. He purposes returning to this district when his health permits, but in the interim will live in the AA’aikato where he has purchased a farm. In view of his impending departure ho was met last evening by the shareholders and suppliers of tho Manawatu Reliance Dairy Factory, of which ho has been a director sinco its inception, while for a number of years he was chairman. Tho present chairman of directors (Mr I). G. Moore) was unable to attend owing to an attack of influenza and in his absence Mr A. E. Mansford presided. After a felicitous speech the latter presented Mr Donaldson with a travelling rug as a reminder of liis happy factory associations and the well wishes of his many friends in Rangiotu. Messrs R. G. Moore, C. Alve, S. S. McCullum, H. Bond and H. H. Simmonds also spoke. Mr Donaldson suitably replied and at tho conclusion of the toast list “Auld Lang Syne” was sung- by tho company.
