Just heforo a body of mounted police arrived at the Richmond horse show to compete for the King’s Cup, His Majesty, explaining to Countess Potochie that foot police were unarmed savo for a truncheon, turned to a constable and, borrowing his truncheon, showed the Countess how it was wielded.
