FEILDING COURT.
TO-DAY’S SITTING

FEILDING, June 24. Mr It. M. Watson, S.M., presided over tho usual fortnightly sitting of tho Feilding Magistrate’s Court today. For riding bicycles at night without a light William Kitchen, lan Goldfinch', Michael O’Leary, Nathaniel Henry Gatchell, Thomas Kelly and Lottie Eiehler were each fined 7s. Kenneth O’Neil and Michael' Bowler, for driving a motor car and lorry respectively with insufficient lights, were mulcted in the respective sums of 7s and 10s. A DROVER’S DOGS.
Tho police proceeded' against John Frederick Bishop, drover, of Feilding, for having dogs at large that were allegedly a danger to the public. On a recent occasion, when Constable Roach called at Bishop’s residence, he had been attacked and bitten by theso dogs, the wound requiring medical treatment. Defendant, giving evidence, stated that ho had never received any complaints about theso dogs before. The dogs were never vicious .with' him, and lie could not understand their action in this case.
Mr J. Power, for defendant, gave evidence to the effect that the dogs wero not dangerous, and decision was reserved. WANDERING CATTLE.
Under the Wellington West. Counties’ joint by-laws, 1925 (section 7), William Berry, traffic inspector to the Manawatu County Council, proceeded against L. Vnlleuder, of Rongotea, for allowing stock to wander on a public road without being under control. Defendant was fined 15s, with costs 10s. For similar offences W. Redmayne (Rongotea) was fined 30s, with costs 11s. and J. Hill (Bunnythorpe) 255, with costs 7s. CIVIL CASES. , Judgment by default was given in tlio following undefended civil cases: U. A. and 0. G. Bramwell (Mr Taylor) v. D. H. McLean, £2OO, costs £9; N. I. W. Brown and Co., Ltd. (Mr Hill) v. F. J. Watty, £4, costs £1 3s 6d; F. J. Mann (Mr Hill) v. Wallace Evans, 19s Id, costs 10s; J. Mennio (Mr Pagan) v. B. Oldfield, £2 11s, costs £1 4s Qd; earns v. W. Davis, £1 16s, costs 8s; Dennis Horgnn (Mr Hill) v. A. J. Whitehouso, £l2, costs £2 17s. -
On a judgment summons T. M. Fitzgerald was ordered to pay Emilie May Burnett the sum of £l4 6s, in default 16 days’ imprisonment in Wanganui gaol, the warrant to be suspended so long as debtor pays plaintiff £4 per month, the first payment to be made on July 8.
