NON-PARTY QUESTION.
AUSTRALIAN REFERENDUM. MELBOURNE, June 23. The Federal executive of the Australian Labour Party decided to make Mr Bruce’s referendum proposals a nonparty question and to allow members of the party a free hand on the issue. The decision has averted a party split. —Press Association.
It was stated yesterday that if the executive of the party decided against the proposals, Mr Charlton and other members of Parliament would be awkwardly placed, but a snlit in the party would be avoided bv the executive deciding that, while it was against the referendum, members of the the party could have a free hand.
