NEW RAILWAY.
COMMENCED IN AUSTRALIA. OUTLET FOR RICH DISTRICT. Received June 24, 12.15 p.m. SYDNEY, June 24. The first sod of the Kyogle to South Brisbane railway has been turned. The lino forms a new iron link between New South Wales and Queensland and affords an outlet for the produce of a large and rich agricultural area previously not served in the North Coast districts of New South Wales. It also constitutes the first definite action in the direction of the unification of the railway gauge in'the Commonwealth.—Press Association.
