SLUGGISH RIVER.
MEETING OF BOARD
A meeting of the Sluggish River Drainage Board was held to-day, Mr H. Wilton presiding in the absence of Mr It. Murphy. Others present were Messrs E. C. Print, F. Foster and J. Ferguson. A letter was received from the Department of Internal Affairs enclosing a copy of the report of the commission set up to enquire into the matter of the proposed alteration of boundaries of the board’s district. The alteration as prayed for, with certain modifications, had been granted. The overseer (Mr E. Smith) reported on the work done in connection with Mr Saunders’ floodgate, it having been found necessary to cut and rivet one. of the hinges. The water was too deep at present to allow of a further small repair being made, but this would be attended to as soon as opportunity offered. It was resolved that the overseer measure certain drains and be empowered to employ an assistant for the work.
Accounts amounting to £7O Is 3d were passed for payment.
