CAR DAMAGED.
While Mr Whittaker, of Colyton, was journeying to Palmerston North yesterday in a light model tliree-seater motor car, the steering gear became out of control and rendered the vehicle unmanageable. The car went off the road and hit a clay' bank near Raukawa, damaging severely the front of the chassis and buckling the, mudguards. A lady passenger was slightly cut by flying glass, but the driver escaped any injury. Had the car left the road much sooner, however, there might have been serious consequences as the mishap occurred close to a bridge. A breakdown lorry was dispatched from Palmerston North and subsequently the damaged vehicle was brought to town for repairs.
