MANAWATU HUNT.

OUTING AT NEWBURY. The Manawata Hunt met yesterday at Newbury, the rendezvous being “Flaxbourne,”'the homestead of Mrs Shannon, senr. With the beautiful weather, there was a large field of followers, including quite a number of lady riders, while there was quite a big crowd of spectators. Three good runs were obtained, and, although a couple of riders had spills, neither was in the least hurt. The drag was laid by Miss Myra Benton, on ltoany, and Mr L. Collins, on Glad Eye.

Among those in the saddle were: Messrs J. Shaw (deputy master), on The General; J. J. Waller (huntsman), on Rangi Sarto; T. Leamy, Hazlewood, and H. Benton, on Dainty Step (hon. whips); L. H. Collinson (master), on Ruby; Mrs Sutton, Pot Luck; Miss Kitty Saunders, Top Rail; Miss Marjory Davison, Night; Miss Loughnan, Ginger; Miss Myra Benton, ltoany; Miss Meads, a black; Miss D. Waller, a bay; Miss Baker, Tiri; Messrs M. E. Woo’d, Scornful; F. Edmonds, Peggy McCray; W. Sexton, Waitangi, W. Scott, Kawana; E. Iv. Mander, Jackaloo; W. W. Andrews, Tarero; H. Swainson, Terehu; Alan Scott, Adrienne; A. A. Webb. Panim; W. Buiclc, Wongorella; W. Balmer, Rhoda; D. Balmer, Fossicker; D. Scott, Cossack; T. Goodwin, The Curragh; A. E. Browne, Pantler; G. V. Shannon, Tea Leaves; L. Collins, Glad Eye; S. Bailey, Quarantine; W. F. Brown, To Tahi; M. McCool, Peggy O’Neil; D. W. Thompson, Lady Dolwill; F. Johansen, Winiata. At the conclusion of the hunt all present were entertained at afternoon tea at the residence of Mr ,J. Shaw by Mr and Mrs W. G. Slianon and Mr and Mrs Shaw, to whom a hearty vote of thanks tvas moved by the president of the Hunt, Mr D. B. McEwen, who stated that their hosts and hostesses were among the very best supporters of the Hunt, and had been so ever since its inception. The motion was carried with cheers, and a similar compliment was paid to the property-owners. In returning thanks Mr Shaw said he hoped that those who camo out to the hunts would always feel at home, as they were, certainly very welcome, and the bigger the crowd the better they liked it. He hoped to see them many'more times before the season ended.
