ADULTERATED FOOD.
REVELATIONS IN NEW YORK. NEW YORK, Juno 21. The milk scandal _ investigations, which continue daily, disclose the grossest form of corruption. To-day they gained wider ramifications with the announcement by the Health Commissioner Mr Harris, that three food inspectors had been suspended upon the disclosure that the butter supply was badly adulterated, from 25 to 50 per cent., all samples taken showing either the presence of 40 per cent, or more of water or foreign fats. This adulteration had been accomplished with the connivance of the health inspectors. Many convictions for bribery have already occurred, particularly that of the secretary to the previous health commissioner. Fifteen department inspectors have been suspended since January 1 for dereliction of - duty.—A. and N.Z. cable.
