WORKS BY LOCAL BODIES. BILL BEFORE PARLIAMENT. Per Pres* Aaaooiation. WELLINGTON, June 22. When the Imprest Supply Bill had been passed by the House of Representatives this evening the Local Authorities Empowering (Relief of Unemployment) Bill was introduced by Governor-General’s message. The Prime Minister asked the House to pass the hill at that sitting as a matter of urgency. The Minister of Finance explained that the bill authorised local bodies to raise loans for the above purpose without taking a poll of ratepayers. The bill passed tlve remaining stages unamended. •
