DAZZLING PAGEANT.

PAPAL LEGATE GREETED

NEW YORK, June 21. In a pageant unique in the Western Hemisphere the princes of the Roman Catholic Church installed Cardinal Benzano as the personal representative of the Pope at the 28th Eucharistic Congress at Chicago. The Holy Name Cathedral was ablaze with thousands of lights as the Legate took the throne surrounded by 'Catholic leaders, including eleven Cardinals, each of whom wore scarlet robes, buckled slippers and a red biretta. Tho church seats only 2000 so that few laymen were present when 800 priests in black and white, 500 seminary students in purple cassocks, 500 monsignors also in purple, 17 mitred abbots, 250 bishops, and 57 archbishops stood to greet the Cardinals. — A. and N.Z. cable.
