DRAGGED FROM RICKSHAW. ATTEMPT TO STRANGLE HER. WARNING BY AUTHORITIES. (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received June 22, 8.5 a.m. PEKIN, June 21. Tho British Consul at Chengtu reported that Miss Manly, an American, was dragged by a Chinese from a rickshaw in the attempt to strangle her. She was rescued by bystanders and her assailant was arrested. As a result of tho Consul’s representations, the authorities has issued a proclamation to the effect that any Chinese molesting foreigners would he arrested and shot.—A. and N.Z. cable.
