NEW CHURCH ROOM.
TAKARO SCHEME ADOPTED. A meeting was held last evening under the auspices of the All Saints’ Parish for the purpose of considering a proposal to erect a churchroom at Takaro. Mr L. E. de Berry presided and there was a good attendance of parishioners. ifhe chairman explained that the need for a Sunday school in the locality of the new suburb was urgent, and to overcome the difficulty a scheme had been promoted by which it was proposed to provide a suitable church-room to meet the requirements of the future.
An energetic building committee was formed and it is hoped to have the building material on the site in a month’s time and it was resolved to proceed with the erection of the room on Labour Day when residents in tho district would assist. The new edifice, which will cost approximately £OOO, will be in keeping with the. progressive suburb, and will be designed by Mr E. V. West. The architect was accorded a vote of thanks for his offer to draw the plans and prepare specifications and Air Carruthers was also heartily thanked for his offer to orgnniso labour to assist with the erection.
During t.he evening £53 was subscribed towards the fund, half the amount being contributed by members of the Takaro Bowling and Tennis Club, while the members also offered the use of the club, pavilion for meeting purposes.
