DAIRY FARMERS’ UNION.

WAIKATO RESOLUTIONS. Per Press Association. HAMILTON, June 10. The Waikato Dairy Farmers’ Union executive passed a resolution to the effect that representations be made to the banks for an increase in the rate of interest payable on current accounts of clients, and a reduction in the interest charged on overdrafts. It was also decided to forward a remit to the Minister of Agriculture asking him to secure a reduction in the price of manures. Members were strongly in favour of a tyro tax as a means of providing money for road expenditure.

BAINESSE DAIRY OOY. OBJECTION TO ABSOLUTE CONTROL. At a meeting on Wednesday, tho directors of the Bainesse Co-operative Dairy Coy. discussed the suggested action of the Dairy Produce Board in taking absolute control on September 1. Strong protests were expressed to the board’s proposals, and the following resolution was carried: “That the directors -of the Bainesse Co-operative Dairy Company notify the Dairy Control Board and the Prime Minister that, immediately the board attempted to seize their butter and cheese under compulsion, the company will take such legal proceedings as may protect the rights of the factory and shareholders.”

DAIRY PRODUCE. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Coy., Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London house under date 9th inst. : Butter: New Zealand choicest, 176 a. Cheese: White, 955; coloured, 945; market firm. Dalgety and Coy., Ltd., report having received the following cablegram from their London house under date of the 9th inst.:—Butter: Since our report of yesterday, quotations are 2s higher. We quote New Zealand finest salted 1765.

APITI-POHANGINA RABBIT BOARD. A meeting of tho Apiti-Pohangina Rabbit Board was held in the Council Chambers at Pohangina on Saturday last, there being present: Trustees A. Brooking (in the chair), W. M. Stewart, H. L. Osborne, J. S. Mclntyre, T. E. Craine, O. O. Mackley and Inspector Souness. The Department of Agriculture wrote remitting the subsidy.—Received. The secretary. North Island Rabbit BoaixLs’ Association, forwarded a draft constitution for the board’s approval. —Approved. On the motion-of Trustee Mclntyre, seconded by Trustee Craine, the notice of motion of May 1 of the intention to strike\a rate of 13d per acre was confirmed. On the motion of Trustee Stewart, seconded by Trustee Craine, it was decided to give public notice that , all properties in the board’s area be poisoned by means of strychnine on or before July 20 next, such poisoning to be followed by the fumigation of all rabbit burrows.

Inspector Souness, in his report, made strong comment on the unnecessary waste of pliosphorised pollard by some farmers in the board’s area. The treasurer’s report was read, and showed the board to be in quite a good financial position. Accounts totalling £47 6s 8d were passed for payment. At the conclusion of tho meeting a demonstration was given -with a patent fumigating apparatus kindly lent by Mr B. Stevens.

STOCK MARKET. Abralvam and Williams, Ltd., report holding a very successful sale of dairy stock on account of Mr C. E. Johnston, Cheltenham, on the 9th inst.. There was a good attendance and the whole herd of 77 cows averaged £7 12s. Wo quote:—Best cows £lO, £lO 15s, £ll, £ll 10s, £l2 15s, £l4 to £ls; other cows £7 10s, £B, £8 ss, £8 10s, £8 15s, £9 to £9 10s; late calvers £4, £4 10s, £5 os, £5 10s to £6'; empty cows in milk £3 15s, £6 10s to £7; heifers £6; horses £l6, £2O, £22; milking machine £35; separator £22; swamp plough £2l; sow with litter £7; sows 30s to 40s. Dalgety and Coy., Ltd., report having held their usual fortnightly sale at Wanganui on Wednesday, 9th inst. There was 'a largo yarding of sheep and a good attendance of buyers. A total clearance was effected at satisfactory prices. Quotations: Ewe lambs to 21s" 4d, wether lambs 16s 9d to 18s Id, m.s. lambs 13s 6d to 15s; 2-th ewes r.w. Border Leicester rams 23s 6d; mixed age wethers 21s; aged_ ewes 5s 2d to 7s; store cows 35s to 455.
