NAURUAN UTOPIA.
NATIVES TO SEE CIVILISATION
Brigadier-General T. Griffiths, Administrator of Nauru, will seek the approval of the Ecderal povernment for 14 nativo chiefs to visit Australia next summer to give them an idea of what civilisation is.
He says the Nauruans aro lovable people, law-abiding and peaceful. “We have no income tax. The island is self-supporting. We liavo modern hospitals, schools, a post office, a baby clinic, ice, fresh meat and a better news service than Australia—our wireless receives daily bulletins from Rugby, Chicago, San Francisco and Australia. Firearms and drugs are prohibited. Altogether we arc contented and prosperous. I shall bo glad to return there on tho expiration of my leavo next month.”
