COST OF INSTITUTION
PATIENTS PAY ONE-THIRD. Ono of the most interesting features of the secretary’s report accompanying tho 1920-27 estimates placed before the annual meeting of tho Palmerston North Hospital Board yesterday was a return showing tho increasing proportion of fees collected front patients. Tho following table for the past three years, together with the estimates for the new financial year 1926-27 in this respect was considered, giving (a) the total fees collected in respect of Palmerston North patients, (h) the average number of occupied beds, (c) the fees collected per occupied bed, and (d) tho percentage of the cost of the hospital recovered from patients:
