WANTED, AN ADAM.
PLENTY OF PERFECT EVES,
A SCULPTOR’S DESIRES
NEW YORK, March 30
Two thousand women, each claiming to bo “the perfect Eve,” have proposed marriage to William. Wright. Wright, who ordinarily earns a living as a chicken farmer, has been selected by the well-known American sculptor, George Grey Barnard, to | pose for his statue of Adam. He declares that Wright lias the physique of a Greek god. Barnard refuses to accept the evolutionists’ view of original man as a higher type of ape, a link ■ between man, as we known him, and the lower animals. He prefers to picture Adam as the Greeks pictured their gods—a perfect type of manhood. ' Wright, himself, has few views on the subject, but lie is strongly of opinion that a “ ‘perfect Eve’ wouldn’t be much good on a chicken farm, which is no Eden.”
