Mr G. R. anti Mrs E. Canavan have just returned from a motor tour of Taranaki.

After crossing to Picton they will motor to Ivaikoura, Christchurch, and Dunedin. One of the most interesting figures in Taupo has been removed by the death of Mr Joseph liickit. He had lived in Taupo for over 50 years. In 1879 he married Taima To Ngahue, a Maori lady of high rank in the Tohurangi tribe, who went through tho Tarawera eruption. The deceased is survived by the widow, four sons and six daughters and 28 grand-children.

Mr M. Gohlsbury, for the past four years first assistant on the staff of tho Marton District High School, has been appointed headmaster of Mangorei School, near New Plymouth. He has taken active interest in other-than scholastic duties, being secretary of the Ilangitikei Schools’' Sports Association and the Marton branch of the New Zealand Alliance, leader of the Methodist Jlible class and representative at tho Methodist district meeting.
