RACING IN AUSTRALIA.

VALICARE WINS ALL-AGED STAKES. CHAMPAGNE STAKES WON BY RAMPION. SYDNEY, April 7. For tho third day of the Australian Jockey Club's autumn meeting there was showery weather. The gay colours of the early days gave place to more sombre hues. The track was on the soft side. Valicare's seventh win in seven starts brought a great ovation from the crowd of forty thousand. Munro rode a well-judged race, airtl kept Valicare close up to Top Gallant, who was leading till entering tho straight, when Valicaro forged ahead to win by a length. The Night Patrol, who was lying last early in the race,gradually crept up, and lop Gallant had to- fight hard to retain second place. On tho report of tho veterinary surgeons that the disease from which Roval Tea was suffering was reduced to 'a minimum of infection, the horse was allowed to take his plae-o in the Champagne Stakes. Rampion, who ran a remarkable race in this event, was well backed. Early m the race he came up, but was twice knocked back entering tho straight. tie showed a great burst of speed a few lengths from, home, and won by hall a length. Roval Tea made a .good showing, and looked a certain winner till iust near the post. In the Cumberland Stakes Heroic stole a march on Windbag when he passed him before entering the straight. Windbag was unable to make up the lost ground. It was a very popular victory.
