NEW OFFICES.
FOR HIGH COAIAfISSIONER. INCREASED ACCOMMODATION. Received March 8, 1.10 p.m. LONDON, April 7. Owing to tho inadequacy of the accommodation in the present High Commissioner’s offices, Sir James Allen, under authority from the New Zealand Government, proposes to sell the balance of the 99 years’ lease with the view to purchasing from the British Aledical Association a freehold and block of offices at the corner of the strand and Agar street containing six storeys and five ground floor show windows.
It is reported that the purchase price is £160,000, which is much below Sir James Allen’s independent valuation. Anglo-New Zealanders regard the acquistion enthusiastically, comparing favourably as regards site, accommodation and cost with the other Dominions’ offices.—A. and N.Z. cable.
