CAN WHAT YOU CAN.
NEW AIOVE IN BRITAIN
LONDON, March 29. To promote the extension of food canning, especially of fruit and vegetables, the Ministry for Agriculture lias formed a National Fruit Canning Council.
Britain imports £7,000,000 worth of canned fruit and vegetables, 87 per cent of which is produced outside the Empire. It is pointed out that Britain could supply the whole European market with canned plums, while adequate canning facilities would enable agriculturists to make a profit from the great quantities of surplus produce available in glut seasons.
