COUNCIL ABOLITION.
PREMIER DETERMINED. SYDNEY, April 6. Mr Lang, Labour Premier, in addressing tho Labour Congress, announced the Government’s determination to proceed with the abolition of the Upper House. He said he did not recoguiso tho right of tho Government to interfere with the function of Parliament, and urged expulsion from the movement of those members who had failed to vote when tho Abolition Bill was before tho House. Ho concluded by saying that the Government did not recognise tho right of a nonrepresentative and nominee Chamber to censor and destroy Labour legislation, and every constitutional means at the disposal of the Government would be exhausted to make tho peoples Chamber paramount. The conference unanimously recorded its appreciation of Mr Lang’s services anil pledged unswerving loyalty to the Government.—Press Association.
