EASTER RINKS TOURNAMENT. POST-SECTION PLAY. In beautiful weather the Manawatu Bowling Centre’s Easter rinks tournament was advanced a further stage on the Palmerston North Club’s green this morning, four of the eight leading combinations being eliminated. Results were as follow:—Moodville (Nicholas, Bly, Trott and Wardrop, skip) 31 v. Palmerston North (Rowling, Boon, W. E. Jones and Wilson, skip) 16; Palmerston North (J. H. Nash, W. W. Jones, Ramsay and Needham, skip) 23 v. Eoxton (Winstanley, Ross, Christie and Thomson, skip) 1G; Feilding (Way, Moore, Ross and Herdman, skip) 19 v. Lyall Bay (Sherwood, Bradley, Hazelwood and Reid, skip) 13; Palmerston North (Iverslake, Goldfinch, Paton and Crump, skip) 24 v. Pukekohe (Short, Playdill, Crosbie and Armstrang, skip) 13. On the completion of these games, Herdman played Needham and Wardrop played Crump, the matches being in progress as this edition went to press'. The two winners were then to .play off and likewise the two losers, the' latter match being to determine the winners of the third prizes. Details of this morning’s games are as follow: WARDROP v. WILSON.

The Woodville rink started off well, scoring six on the first head and a single on the next, Wilson replied with singles on the third and fourth, but Wardrop then went well, ahead, scoring two, one. one, two and four in succession, thus leading with nine heads gone by 17 to 2. The next six went to Palmerston North, but only a total of seven resulted. Wardrop got in with two on the 16th, and Wilson replied with five on the next, making the scores: Woodville 19, Palmerston North 14. Five and four to Wardrop on the 18th and 19th made tho position such that Wilson required a total of 14 on the last two heads' to draw. The 20th saw the Palmerston North rink notch two, while on the final head Wardrop added a further three. NEEDHAM v. THOMSON. The Palmerston North rink took tlio first three heads, scoring a total of five, Foxton getting two and ono on the fourth and fifth. Six to Needham on the next gave him a lead of 11-3, which ho increased on the next two heads by a singe and a three. Thomson pulled up somewhat on the ninth and tenth, making tho score 15-6, against him. On the 11th head Needham’s lead drew dead behind the kitty, and Ross, number 2 for Foxton, trailed tho jack on to the Palmerston North bowl, the kitty resting dead between tho two bowls and touching both. The position was not altered by the subsequent bowls, and neither rink scored, although the head counted in the number. Thompson scored four and two on the next two beads, and a single iollowed to Needham on the 14lh. Foxton scored similarly on the next} and the position was now: Needham 16, Thomson 13. The lGth saw tho Palmerston North rink notch four, Foxton replying on the next with two. A single to Needham came off the 18th and a similar score to Thomson off the next, the position with two heads to go thus being: Needham 21, Thomson 16. The last two heads went to Palmerston North rink, singles being scored on each. HERDMAN v. REID. Lyall Bay opened with a single, and Feilding scored similarly on the second head. Reid took the lead with a single and a three, but the fifth went to Feilding, who notched another single. Lyall Bay, after scoring two on tho next, did not score again till the lltli, and in the meantime Feilding had passed them, leading 10 —7 when the lltli was commenced. One and a two to Lyall Bay brought them level, but Feilding then went ahead again, leading 18 —11 after 18 heads had been played. Reid then scored a single, and the last two heads were evenly divided, both rinks getting a singlo and making the final scores: Herdman 19, Reid 13. CRUMP v. ARMSTRONG. Scoring on the first six heads was small, tlio Palmerston North rink' getting two, ono and one and Armstrong three singles. Four to Crump on the 7th was followed by two to Armstrong oil tho next, but Crump then jumped ahead with threes on the 9th and iOth and a seven on tlio 12th. Armstrong got in a single on tho lltli and three oil the 14th, the score at this being 22 to 9 against him. The 15tli went to Armstrong, who notched a single, and Palmerston North scored similarly on tho two next heads. The Pukekohe rink then added two and one on the 18th and 10Lh. and, requiring a total of 12 on the last two heads, withdrew, leaving tho Palmerston North rink the winners by a margin of 24 to 13.
