COLLECTIONS MADE. REPLY TO CRITICISM. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, April 6. Hon R. E. Bollard replied to-day to the criticisms of the collecting of birds by Mr Beck, of the schooner France, on behalf of the Whitney collection and the National Museum of New r York. Ho quoted tlio*report by an officer of the Dominion Museum, stating that no specimens of rare Now Zealand birds were taken and report giving a full list of the birds taken. The minister concluded: “The public can rest assured that very full consideration is given to all applications to take away specimens of tho Dominion’s fauna. Those who have written against Mr France’s expedition have done so without knowing the facts, but I must say 1 admire the honesty of their purpose.”
