On Saturday morning Wellington’s largest yacht, the ten-ton Psyche, a 45ft auxiliary craft, left Evans Bay on a voyage to Sydney.- Captain Townsend, of Auckland, who is over 60 years of age, is in command of the little boat, and he has with him a crew of three. The Psyche is owned by Mr G. H. Jackson, of Lyall Bay, who is at present in Australia'. On Saturday evening in Wellington a nine-roomed house in the vicinity of Marama Crescent, off Aro street, was totally destroyed. The call was received at the fire station at 10.30 and for an hour and a Half after the brigade’s arrival the fire fighters waged a strenuous battle against furious flames and dense smoke. An adjoining house was severely damaged and other residences in the vicinity were scorched.
