ANNUAL SPORTS GATHERING.
PIPING AND DANCING
With weather conditions fairly good and every indication of a record attendance during the afternoon, the 22nd annual sports gathering of the Manawatu and AVest Coast Caledonian Society was commenced at the Showgrounds this morning, a start being made with the piping and dancing and school events.
The AA’anganui Pipe Band was in attendance and rendered selections.
Results of the various events contested up to the time of going to press were as follow : SCHOOL EVENTS. Boys: —100 yards. —First heat: I. Anderson (scr.) 1, J. R. Vernon (7yds) 2. Second heat: B.
