WHANGAREI, April 2. While Mr Lough, of Waipu, and an assistant were engaged mending a puncture, their service car got adnlt in ilio Waipu Gorge, and plunged over the precipitous bank into tho stream below, a drop of well over 1 JOft. Tlie water is about 9ft. in depth at the spot. Only a small portion of the muchine appeared above the surface. It is probable that the car is so badly smashed that restoration cannot bo affected, even if it were pdssible to recover the machine from its position.
