LONG ARM OF THE LAW.
INSTANCE AT CEYLON.
CALCUTTA, March 26. A remarkable instance of the long arm of the law is reported from Ceylon.
An elderly maker of walking sticks is said to have been _ charged w’ith a murder committed in 1904. He fled from the village which was the scene of the crime, and evaded arrest. He left behind his wife and daughter. The daughter, now grown into a beautiful woman, was courted by- two -men, who learned from her the secret of the hiding place of her father. This still remained a secret until the daughter exhibited a- preference for one suitor. The rejected lover sought revenge by informing the police of the father’s whereabouts.
