LORD SOMERS.
NEW VICTORIA GOVERNOR,
LONDON, March 18. Lord Somers will succeed Lord Stradbroke, whose term ■as Governor of Victoria has almost expired. The political correspondent of, tho Times says: “Recommendations for responsible appointments abroad are among the Government’s best achievements. There is no doubt that both Lord Somers and his wife, who is a sister of Lady Apsley, will prove a popular choice in Victoria. Lord Somers, as Lord-in-waiting to the King, is at present one of the Government’s spokesmen in the House of Lords.
