CROSSHJLL’S CREW.
SING ON WAY TO PRISON
Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, April 2. The twenty-six members of tile crew of the Crossbill who were found guilty on Wednesday of combining to impede the progress of the vessel, were escorted to the Paparua Prison on Thursday to undergo a sentence of four weeks’ imprisonment. The .men, who had been allowed to sleep on board on Wednesday night, reported to the police station at 1.30 a.m. on Thursday and were marched to the railway station under the charge of three constables. The men made the occasion one for some jollification, singing “It Ain’t Gonna Rain No More” and “Show Me the Way to go Home.” They took their seats quietly in a second-class carriage, where they altered the vocal contributions to “Let the Rest of the World Go By.” The Crosshill remains tied up at the Gladstone Pier, the date of her departure for Port Chalmers being uncertain.
