RONGOTEA TOWN BOARD

MONTHLY MEETING. Tlio monthly meet' g of tlio Rongotea Town Board was hold last evening when there wero present: —Messrs L. H. Yarrall (in the chair), G. BallGuymer, AV. J, Croucher, S. Teaz, A. Simonson and C. 1\ Wood (clerk). The action of the chairman in appointing Mr J. H. Pooley to fdl the vacant position of roadman and caretaker of the Coronation Hall caused by the resignation of Mr Salmon was confirmed. Mr Pooley was also appointed ranger to the hoard. The matter of procuring a carpenter to erect a cart and harness shed and pull down the old gas generator shed was left in the hands of the works committee. Instructions wero also issued that, if necessary, a concrete floor ho' put in in the old carbido shed for the purposes of storing chaff in bulk. The roadman reported that the crowns of the intersecting roads in the Squaro wero too high, while the water-tables, as a result of grading operations, wero somewhat low. Ho suggested that such matters bo given attention. The clerk mentioned that complaints had been received from motorists relative to the height of the crown of tho roads. Tho suggestion was sent forward to the works committee for its favourable consideration.

Accounts totalling £2B 15s were passed .for payment.
